The vision

Sustainable farming

Milchhof Am Recknitztal is a future-oriented dairy and forage farm near Laage in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The dairy cows, numbering just under 800, are fed grass silage, maize silage, alfalfa hay, grain maize and other feed crops. Slurry and solid manure from the stables are spread on the field to complete the nutrient cycle and to keep the amount of mineral fertilisers needed as low as possible. The spatial proximity of the farm sites to the other P. Maat GmbH companies reduces transportation costs and significantly lowers greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the amount of fuel.

Milchhof Am Recknitztal e.G is implementing many sustainable practices at its various locations in order to continuously improve sustainability. One of the most important advancements is the construction of our new stable facilities in Striesdorf, near Laage, with its own biogas facility.

The construction of our new stable facilities is a project that is very close to my heart. Not only will everything there be state-of-the-art technically, but many things will also be improved in terms of animal welfare and sustainability. – Pieter Maat
