Slaughterhouse

From fur collection point to cattle slaughterhouse

Initially established as a simple fur collection point, cattle has been professionally slaughtered on the premises of the modern-day slaughterhouse since May 1995.

However, the company was not founded with the areas of responsibility that exist to this day until 2006. The slaughterhouse has been working hand-in-hand with Maat Viehhandel – which is responsible for delivering the slaughter cattle – ever since.

Many years of experience, a high level of experience and the professionalism of more than 50 employees have made Schlachthof Perleberg what it is today: a successful, competitive company that is known throughout Europe for its high quality and safety standards. Future oriented investments in slaughter and refrigeration technology and the continuous qualification and training of employees and partners have paid off. Schlachtbetrieb GmbH Perleberg is the only EU cattle slaughterhouse to be QS-certified since 2007 and production is carried out exclusively in accordance with the guidelines of the Codex Alimentarius.

Our main objectives: quality assurance and optimisation

Product quality and animal welfare are top priority for the slaughterhouse. Only through species-appropriate husbandry, diligent care and careful feeding of the cattle can a maximum level of quality in the products ultimately be guaranteed. For this reason, care is also taken when transporting the slaughter cattle to ensure that they are treated with respect and in compliance with animal welfare rules, and in accordance with the requirements of the EU ordinance on animal welfare during transportation. The favourable location of the slaughterhouse in the middle of a cattle breeding region allows for short and thus stress-free transportation routes. The slaughter cattle comes from Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg.
